Loreto Food and Wine Festival Highlights (Video)

Aug 27, 2012

The inaugural Loreto Food and Wine Festival was held earlier this year on the Paseo in the Loreto Bay resort. Hundreds took to the street in a celebration with a great cause at heart (literally): a new EKG for the local hospital in Loreto, Baja California Sur.

Here is a video recap below of the festival.

Although we filmed hours of footage, we could only pack so many appearances into the final cut. I want to thank everyone who spoke to us on camera. A special thanks to a one Sherry Folken who is perhaps the best funk/swinging/wild/fun dancer ever spotted in or around Loreto Bay.

But most of all, thanks are in order to the organizers — Rodolfo Guerrero, Tanni Graichen, Heidi Gatens and Miki Edwards — for their extraordinary efforts in getting this festival off the ground. There was tremendous support too from local government (Municipality of Loreto) and businesses including many Loreto restaurants that generously shared their culinary talents. It’s an auspicious debut, and let’s hope they’ve started a tradition all us gringos, locals, community leaders, ex-pats, vacationers alike can enjoy for years to come.

I’m told plans are well underway for the 2nd annual edition which is scheduled for March 2013. If you’re making plans to visit Loreto this could be yet one more reason to be sure to pack your dancing shoes.

Clint founded Discover Loreto after being seduced by the town, charmed by the people and smitten by the beautiful Baja landscape (not to mention the fish tacos). Having purchased a little Loreto Bay casa he's happy to report that it's true: life is both relaxed and active here. Clint also co-founded Stark Insider. A lifestyle magazine with over 600,000 readers, the site covers "all things west coast" and is routinely cited alongside major publications such as San Jose Mercury News, SF Chronicle and Wine Spectator magazine. In 2013 Stark Insider TV became the largest arts and entertainment channel in San Francisco.
